B&B Question for High Season

Hello,

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Charleston in early May from New York and would appreciate insight anyone on this board might have when it comes to Bed and Breakfasts. We've read reviews and checked out websites but know that the people who post are usually very knowledgeable about the local scene. We'd be looking for the following:

1) Cost - Up to $250 a night

2) Location - Near the historic district. We plan on going out to bars/restaurants at night so preferably not more than 10-15 minute walk home around 1 a.m. at night

3) A B&B feel that we'd get from an inn in Charleston that obviously we would not get in New York City.

Any recommendations that anyone could provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Here's a good site: bedandbreakfast.com/charleston-south-carolin… with reviews and photos. What you're looking for means you should try to select a place (see map) towards the tip of the peninsula or on the "lower" right of the peninsula - then you'll be close to restaurants and shops. You probably want to be anywhere south of Market and east of King Street. Enjoy! You'll love it!

If you're coming down before Spoleto kicks off (May 23- June 8), you shouldn't have trouble finding a place within that budget. The College of Charleston has graduation the weekend of May 10 so that will definitely be a busy time for the city.

The Elliott House Inn on Queen street is great B&B with a parking garage right across the street if you're planning to rent a car. From here, you're no more than 15 minutes from the Market area (bars/restaurants) and the Battery. There's a couple great places to go on Broad Street which is maybe 5 minutes away. They also sit between 2 of my favorite restaurants - Poogan's Porch (great for lunch and Sunday brunch) and 82 Queen (great for lunch and dinner...a little pricier than Poogan's).

Enjoy your visit!
