Charleston vacation 2007

This was our first time but not our last. The city is so peaceful and relaxed and very easy to get around by foot. We stayed on isle of Palms but the drive to town was necer a problem.

Patriot's point has so much to see...we lucked out and had some fellows for a Yorktown reunion telling us all sorts of stuff.

Harbour tour without a visit to the fort was combined with the carriage ride...great..if I could be sure to get a different route I would take another carriage ride. Should have taken a waqlking tour or even got the guide book for a self guided tour.

California Dreaming was a really nice evening and price was moderate. Ate on Sullivans at Atlanticville...expensive and Sullivans...they rushed us but the food was good...also Dunleaveys Pub on the corner,,good pub food and laid back fun. IOP restaurants were okay but beachy stuff.

magnolia Plantation was okay but pricey,,,we LOVED BOONE HALL..there is a ton of stuff going on and they work hard to make things come alive.

Try to go to see Angel Oak..it is hidden behind a chruch on a little dirt road...get a google map...but it is an amazing sight. The pier at Folly Beach is closed so we were disappointed..plus it is really hard to find a place to park.

The Citadel was interesting to see but we should have gone for one of the parades.

It is a super city and we had a very enjoyable time...small enough that as we wandered we started to see some familiar faces during the day. We will go back again.

Thanks for the report! Glad that you had a great time and want to return. There is so much to see here!

Some friends and I were at The Citadel yesterday for parade. Some of the Class of '60 was there. They entertained us throughly with their tales of antics when they were cadets. The Citadel Museum (same building as the Daniel Library) is also free of charge and is very interesting. The gift shop in the Mark Clark Hall is very nice.
