In looking up some info on Block Island, there is reference to something called a maze and I saw another reference for something called a labyrinth.

Are these one and the same?

Is this like one of those corn mazes or hedge mazes or something else?

Can anyone provide a URL (link) with pictures of this place/these places on Block Island?

1. Re: Maze?

There should be photos of the maze available on one of the Websites such as biri.com or blockisland.com. It's part of the Clay Head conservation area, about two miles from "downtown" (Old Harbor) and east of Corn Neck Rd - the only road leading north along the coast. I'd say "hedge maze" describes it best.

The labyrinth is farther north, on the opposite side of the road, and is easily missed. All that announces it is a wooden post with the words "labyrinth entrance" painted on. I have never walked in, but from what I hear it's a path laid out between rows of stones, so is designed to be meandered along at a contemplative pace rather than "get lost in."
