EatnPark used to be reliably gluten free, but we haven't been there in years. They don't advertise as gluten free, but we've never had any problem with El Jalisco or Rey Azteca, as long as we avoid the flour tortillas. Spats is great, and understands gluten-free, but may be more than you're looking for with a 12-year old. Maybe as his taste matures? The Village Eatinghouse in Pleasant Gap does gluten-free. And now there is Good See Baking Company in downtown State College where you can buy great bread and cookies. :)
Quaker Steak and Lube also is listed on celiac-disease.com as having a good variety of gluten free options.
