Local hotels/motels to avoid.

Coming up to State next weekend (22nd-24th) on short notice. Some hotels seem to be booked solid. Which hotels/motels should we definitely avoid? We aren't that picking.

Thanks.

As long as you stick with most State College hotels you should be fine. The only ones I'd avoid are Happy Valley Motor Inn and The Autoport. They're not quite up to snuff. Depends on what you're looking for, of course. Are you okay with three star accommodations, or better?

The Nittany Budget Motel (not the current motel with this name) was a dump. It was rebuilt in 1999 as a Motel 6. It became a Quality Inn when the franchise expired in 2009. It is a huge improvement over the previous motel.

The Sleep Inn is a modern budget-oriented property. All rooms have large walk-in showers.

If you are having trouble finding a place to stay in State College, you might want to consider the Quality Inn in Milesburg (about 13 miles away). It used to be a Holiday Inn and was also a Ramada.

I would certainly avoid the Autoport, Happy Valley Motor Inn, and the Imperial Motor Inn at all costs!
