Pittsburgh Mills Restaurants

Hello! We are traveling to Pittsburgh in a few weeks. Due to business we have in the area we are staying close to Pittsburg Mills mall.

Can anyone give restaurant recommendations for this area? We do have children so family friendly is good! Price is not that important. Also, if possible we prefer something that is not a chain.

We will be visiting to zoo during the trip as well...any restaurant recommendations for this area?

We will have a car and do not mind driving if there are better suggestions outside of the area where we are staying.

Thank you in advance!

I've only been in that area a few times, but I think most everything in the mall area is a chain. I would, however, recommend Red Robin. My son loves the place and they have great burgers. It's sort of a cross between Chuck E Cheese and TGIFridays.

I can't help you with the Zoo area, although my husband drives a truck in the city and he said there is a place near the zoo entrance that has the best pizza he ever had.

Here is the website for Pittsburgh Mills mall to give you an idea of what is there.

http://www.pittsburghmills.com. Under 'shopping' there is a drop down menu that lists the stores and restaurants in the area.

If you are staying at the Springhill Suites in the mall complex I have heard that some restaurants in the mall complex offer discounts if you show your room key. Eat N Park is a Pittsburgh area chain but has good food and is kid friendly. Kids love their Smiley cookies. You could try Rosie's Pierogies in the strip mall part of the complex for a Pittsburgh experience. There is a Johnny Rockets in the mall that the kids might like.

There aren't any restaurants near the zoo but its only about 20 minutes from Pittsburg Mills.

All of the restaurants around the perimeter of the Mills are chains. Our favorite is the Lonestar Steakhouse. If you're coming back from the zoo, instead of getting onto 28 to head back towards the Mills, if you go under the Highland Park bridge and take Allegheny River Blvd. through Verona to Oakmont, you will find several non-chain restaurants on either side of the road in Oakmont. There's a good italian restaurant that'll be on your left side. Also there's a very large bakery there (same side) that's pretty good if you wanted to pick up some sweets for later. It's pretty easy to cross the river then at the Hulton Bridge to get back onto 28 to get back to the Mills.

Also, if it's a rainy day and you have to be inside, the Mills has a nice movie theater and IMAX.

Thank you all for the great information! I have made notes. We do have business in Oakmont so I appreciate the information regarding the restaurants in this area! Thank you also for the names of places around the mall! We are looking forward to our visit!
