and Yes.

Take a look at the replies from the other questions asked here...you'll find more than enough information about where to go and what to do.

go to www.stationsquare.com to familiarize yourself with that...

ride the incline...

just read the posts...you'll see...

Hello, glad you're coming to Pittsburgh! And go Pens!

Are you bringing a car? There is not much in the immediate area of your hotel, but much to see within easy driving, or even walking if you're up for it, distance. Taxi service in Pittsburgh is not the greatest.

On Saturday morning/afternoon, visit the Strip District for a taste of Pittsburgh. It's an old-style market with lots of interesting food shops.

Sometime during your visit, you should go up the incline. You can get there from Station Square (These are all major spots that anyone should be able to direct you to.) There are eating and drinking establishments at Station Square but don't expect shopping.

The South Side is an interesting place to explore. It's East Carson Street, a long, long strip of bars, restaurants and shops (mostly bars). It is a younger crowd. At the end is South Side Works, which is chainy but still a good place to shop and eat.

Downtown Pittsburgh, where you're staying, can be dead but does have some bright spots. There is a huge Macy's and a Saks for shopping, and if you head toward the area of Penn Avenue and Sixth Street you'll find some bars and restaurants.

A couple of offbeat suggestions for you-the Aviary is great fun, and there is a wonderful exhibit at Phipps Conservatory by the glass artist Dale Chihluly. We also have a fine small zoo. The dinosaurs are back at Carnegie Museum, too!

Good luck, please let us know if you have more specific questions.

All previous suggestions are good. I'd second the driving aspect though--taxi service in Pittsburgh is not too hot. While you will likely be able to get one at your hotel, you won't have much luck finding one anywhere else to get back to your hotel--most taxi service is really just between the airport and the hotels, cabs don't generally cruise the streets looking for fares here, the way they do in other major cities.

The T will take you over to Station Square-- the closest station from your hotel is a few blocks walk. You can access both the Monongahela Incline and the Duquesne Incline from Station Square. The Duquesne takes you to the point on Mt. Washinton with the bst view of the city, but you have to walk a bit from the Station Square complex to get there. The Mon incline is right there at the start of the complex.

Bus service into Oakland and Shadyside is really pretty good, if you don't mind taking the bus. There is a bus stop on Forbes Ave at Duquesne University a couple blocks from your hotel where you can access buses that will take you to those places (Pick up any 71 A,B,C,or D or a 61C). Oakland is home to University of Pittsburgh ( also Carnegie Mellon University) as well as the Carnegie Museums and Phipps Conservatory, which is beautifully decorated for the holidays and has a great glass sculpture exhibit, as previously mentioned. Shadyside is a trendy neighborhood with a great little shopping district. These areas are also just a few minutes drive from your hotel ( well, depending on traffic in Oakland, it could be significantly more than a few minutes, but as the crow flies, very close--Shadyside is a bit further out).

Parking in Oakland can be difficult, but there is a lot associated with the museums and also a good deal of parking around Phipps. Pitt and CMU students will be gone for the holidays, so street parking should open up a bit as well. There are lots in Shadyside, too.

Have a great time.
