Where to stay June 16 and 17?

I will be flying to visit a college daughter on June `16 and 17. My daughter is at Carnegie Mellon. I can't find anywhere to stay. All ideas would be welcome. I am willing to stay out of the city just a bit as long as there is public transit to get to downtown. I've never been to Pittsburgh so I don't know suburbs or neighborhoods. I guess if I have to I will rent a car. I am flying in from Philadelphia on Saturday morning and back to Philadelphia on Monday. There is just no place affordable. Something big must be happening that weekend.. The only room I found is at a Courtyard at $349 a night. Way too much! Thanks for helping with my dilemna.

Hi Betty, I just checked AAA, the only hotel with any room close for you was the Doubletree Pittsburgh City Center.

Call them right away here's the number 412-281-5800

I don't know what's going on that weekend since I'm not living there currently but it must be big.

Let me know if you got a room.

hi - that is the weekend of the US Open, which is held at Oakmont this year. Rooms around the city have been sold out for months. Good Luck!
