Newbie - Need Info on stay and things to do in Poconos

Hi all,

Me and my wife are planning to go visit. pocono. We definitely want to do the white water river rafting. Apart from that what else can be done, any gambling/shows etc.

Any good indoor or outdoor water parks?

Since we will go in June, which days are best to go so there is less crowd and hotel/motels/resorts prices are cheap.

Any recommended place to stay , clean, safe and close to dining, and major things to do.

Camelback Ski Resort in Tannersville becomes a water park in summer, Mt Airy Casino in Mt Pocono and Mohegan Sun Casino in Wilkes Barre.

Ok we want to do the white water rafting at jim thorpe. This will be our first time water rafting for us, me and my wife. Any advise and we would also like to go to Mt Airy casino and camelback water park. Which would be a good location to stay to cover all these three places? How about vacation homes, any ideas on that.

Would 4th of july weekend be very crowded. We don't like a huge crown, but decent number is fine. We are pretty flexible on dates which we can go, so weekdays or weekends?

Its a pretty good ride from Jim Thorpe to Mt Pocono but Jim Thorpe is the place to raft. In this case I think I would arrive early to Jim Thorpe do the rafting and then head to Mt Pocono and Mt Airy lodge and stay there. A lot of driving if your are going back and forth or staying in the middle.Camel Beach water Park is about 10 min from Mt airy and there are many places to eat.Best bet to aviod crowds would be weekday prior to June 24th. Good luck

Is Jim Thorpe the only place to do rafting? I heard there is another place but can't remember.

You can also go rafting on the Delaware River. Kitittany canoes out of Mattamoros is one of the bigger rafting operations. They are located about an hour north of Stroudsburg near Milford.
