Lodging and Idelwild Park

Any suggestions on where to stay to visit Idelwild Park? How close is it to Ligonier and what to do there? 4/5/14 year olds kids, moms/dads & grandparents

Idelewild is a stone's throw from Ligonier. In the little town itself you can stay at the Ramada which would probably fit your needs nicely. L igonier is a wonderful little historic town. there are a number of B&B's but the Ramada might be better for the family. Also a mile or two upt he road is the Ligonier Country Inn, which would also be great for you. It is a small hotel/inn with maybe 20 or 30 rooms and an outdoor pool. Maggie and PJ are the owners and they are really nice people. Here is the link to their place:

My husband and I have stayed there on several occasions and have always enjoyed our times there. Hope this helps you.

Try going to the Idlewild website and clicking on Accommodations. There are many good package deals. We ended up staying at the Hampton Inn in Blairsville, about 30 minutes away from the park, but the deal made it worthwhile. There are other hotels available too. We enjoyed the park so much that we took advantage of their second-day deal, which allows you to buy a pass for the next day at a reduced price. Don't miss the waffle cones with ice cream and strawberries!

We did go to Ligonier for a morning, which was pleasant--nice shops and a pretty town. My sons especially enjoyed the toy shop, which had Playmobil and Thomas sets. We didn't go to the fort, although it looked nice.
