Lancaster in March for family?

We are planning our first trip to PA 3/12. Will things be open then, or are they closed for the winter? What would you recommend for 5 & 7 year old kids in the area?

take them on the strasburg railroad. they will love it. there is a toy train museum also. you can do a buggy ride. they are the perfect age for that also. it's fun also to walk around kitchen kettle village. lots of cute shops, ice cream, candy, jam and jelly shop. miniature golf will probably still be closed. google lancaster,pa. there are 2 good sites.to check out what there might be going on on your travel dates. just driving around the country side was fun for my kids years ago. they loved seeing the farms and the buggies.

In Lititz, you have the Sturgis Pretzel House where they can bake their own pretzel, and the Wilbur Chocolate factory. (And directly across the street from Wilbur's is the Teddy Bear Emporium.) Nearby is the Wolf Sanctuary of PA (wolfsancpa.org), with weekend tours at noon.

Also check the Landis Valley Museum for "event" days, where guides offer hands-on workshops.

For learning about the Amish, head to Plain & Fancy Farm on Route 340. Take a buggy ride at Abe & Jessica's, watch the Amish Experience movie, tour the Amish House, and eat dinner at the Plain & Fancy restaurant, all in the same place.

Finally, Dutch Wonderland is specifically geared towards the under-12 crowd.
