How the world turns....what was once the biggest butter factory in the southern hemisphere is now trendy apartments for the middle classes

They are a good 15 minute walk from main beach and not long finished..

we are staying there right now!!! we have a 3 bedroom, 3 level apartment in the warehouse with 2.5 bathrooms...intercom, good security, big balconies on each level,

just beautiful....rooms huge, overlooks the old railway which is now rainforest..lots of old fixtures from the butter factory incorporated into it, such as the timber, the old reclaimed flooring, the brickworks.. fittings are all good quality BOSCH, washing machine, dryer, hairdryers, its a 10 minute walk to town, and there are some great cafes and delis on the way.. the cinema is 2 minutes,

we will be coming again..

We stayed at the Butterfactory for a girl's week away. Location was great - away from the noise of town but only about 5mins walk to the supermarket and 10mins walk to the restaurants and bars. The apartment we stayed in was gorgeous - 3 bedrooms over 3 levels all with a balcony/verandah. The bottom level had access to the pool which was lovely! The apartment had a washer and dryer but no clothes airer or retractable clothesline, which would be extremely beneficial as we had to drape our wet clothes and washing all over the balconies and furniture to dry. The dryer is fine for towels but no good for bathers and delicates!!

The other issue we had was with the gym next door. Their classes started quite early - around 7am some days (including weekends) and the music from their group fitness studio was excessively loud. This was the biggest turn off for our group as we were on holidays and did not want to be woken at the crack of dawn each morning after a late night out! This would also be a drawback for families with young children requiring day time naps....Otherwise a fantastic choice.

Byron Beachside Accommodation, managers of the Butter Factory Apartments, appreciate the comments of everyone who shares information on our apartments, and we use this feedback to improve our service where ever possible.

In regard to the noise issue with the Gym next door, we have been working constantly for some months to resolve this, & we are very happy to announce today that the Gym has agreed to a range of modifications to their sound system, windows, timetable & building to stop any further disturbances caused by the classes.

Just yesterday we received the following email from another guest who stayed this week,

"I just wanted to send through a quick thank you email...

We just had the most wonderful stay at The Butter Factory. The apartments are just beautiful, fantastic in size and well equipped. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back. To find somewhere that accommodated two families with plenty of space like that is rare.

We will be back"

We are committed to providing good quality & affordable holiday accommodation in Byron Bay & would be very happy to respond to any concerns or questions you may have.

Just call (02 6619 0300) or email to stay@byronbeachside.com.au

Kind regards,

Byron Beachside.

Thank-you so much for trying to fix the 'gym' problem, was so happy to read that you have resolved some of the issue's as we are staying at the butter factory in 3 weeks ( with a 2 year old) and l was a bit concerned about how we where going to go with the noise from the gym.

My husband and l are so excited about our little holiday that we have been saving for. It is our first holiday with our daughter. We have even been having swimming lesson's for her so she is more comfortable in the pool.

It's nice to see you take notice of the feedback and l look forward to our stay knowing that you care.

Thank-yoy

We've just come back from a stay at the Butter Factory. Apartments are modern and clean, but there were a lot of finishing touches missing - such as clothes airer, soap dish in bathrooms (basins had nowhere for the soap to go), extra towel rails and/or hooks in the bathroom (there were 7 of us and not enough room to hang towels - had to hang them over clothes rail in the wardrobes!), no full-length mirrors anywhere, water leaked from shower all over the floor, tap in laundry toilet basin extends too far over the basin, so the floor got wet every time someone washed their hands), kitchen could have been better equipped. We were in a 3 bedroom warehouse apartment. Upstairs bedroom had no door at all, so people sleeping there were disturbed if others wanted to stay up (also no privacy). The couple who slept there said they hd to jam towels etc. against the blinds, as otherwise they banged against the windows all night (there were no windows open), Downstairs living area was a little "dungeon-like", as there were no windows at all - we didn't use it. Pool area very disappointing - not a place to sit & relax - just a lap pool. Really just an afterthought between the side of the building and the fence. Barbecue was OK, but lighting ridiculous - 2 of the 3 lights over the barbecue area were sensor lights (lasting only 1 minute, if that), with the sensor being at the other end of the large courtyard! All, in all, for the price paid: quite a few design faults, and not enough finishing touches, but still pleasant to stay in, and staff were friendly and helpful. OK to walk to beach if you are not taking chairs, shelter etc. Not very far from town centre. However, next time I would look elsewhere.

My family and I stayed there recently, and we thought the place was appalling. For somewhere that was completed only relatively recently, the apartments were very grotty and we were extremely disappointed. The drains in the sinks were blocked and kept washing up black muck, the apartment was dusty and just plain dirty (my kids' feet were black after walking around the apartment for 5 minutes), and the management were ruse and unhelpful. Things were so bad that we ended up leaving early and not having to pay for our stay. I would be hard pressed to give the place 1 out of 10 and feel an obligation to WARN ANYONE READING THIS TO STAY AWAY. There are 100s of betetr places to stay in Byron.

It is unfortunate when we are blamed for someones personal issues, and when we made every attempt possible to please this couple.

This couple did leave early & was not charged as the Police needed to be called when the couple became threatening & abusive.

The property should be added to enable TA members to lodge a review.

I've searched and can't find it on TA's list for hotel/apartments

IMO the forum certainly isn't the place for these complaints with management responding.
