We will be staying at a Manitoulin Island cottage beginning Sunday July 28th. The cottage is close to the ferry. We considered driving to Tobermory (we live southwest of Toronto) but have heard that there are delays on highway 6 because of road construction. The ministry of transportation website indicates this consists of 14 km of construction, further stating that "10 minute delays can be expected" because of the construction causing lane closures. This seems like a very short delay for 14 kms of construction! Can anyone comment on this who has driven this route recently?
We would like to catch the afternoon ferry and want to leave sufficient time. The alternative is to avoid this altogether and drive the entire way rather than taking the ferry. We are completely unfamiliar with either option and would appreciate any suggestions.
