weather in August?

My family and I are considering a stay in San Jan del Sur for about five days in August. What is the weather like? Is it excessively humid, rainy? Also, we were going to head down to Guanacaste. Since it is the rainy season does it rain all the time or are there still parts of the day that are sunny?

Lastly, what is better? San Juan del Sur or Tamarindo?

Thanks for the info and advice!

San Juan weather in August is normally pretty good. It might rain at night or early in the morning, but will be sunny during the day (normally). If it's sunny it will not be excessively humid, but this of course depends on the rainy days.

San Juan and Tamarindo are completely different. San Juan is less developped, but this has it's charms as well.

Have fun!
