Bed & Breakfast

The Historic Smithton Inn is a must to visit. The house has such character and charm. Very clean and comfortable. Rebecca and Dave are the Innkeepers and are very friendly and provide you with interesting facts about the town and the house dating back to 1763. Homemade breakfast was great! They were so kind to offer their B&B to any veteran for Veteran's Day which was very appreciated.

So nice to read your positive note regarding your stay during the Free Night for Vets, Kristine! Many of the Lancaster County B&B's participate in this program, and have done so for several years. Additionally, the B&B's here are part of the largest B&B community in the Eastern US and many are members of the Authentic B&B's of Lancaster County (the Smithton included).

There are many different B&B's from which to choose - large& small; country, village & town; Victorian, Colonial & farmhouse, different price ranges, etc.. Contrary to some long-held stereotypes, B&B's rarely have shared bathrooms, strict rules and stuffy decor. People don't realize that the B&B's are an economic choice of lodging, especially when you consider all the complimentary amenities (parking, WiFi, snacks & beverages. And, let's not forget BREAKFAST! The culinary offerings are second to none.

Also, there's the concierge service that they offer, as you mentioned. Where else are you going to get the inside scoop on the best places to see and shop in Lancaster County? The innkeepers are locals and have a genuine interest in the success of other small businesses in the area.

Yes, I'm a big supporter of the B&B community in general. We've stayed at several in Lancaster and other areas as well. I wish more people would realize what gems these places are.
