Why is relocation not a travel issue?

I realize this post will not last long but I am astounded to see that relocation questions are being closed. I moved here about a year ago and trip advisor regulars were super helpful and continue to help me with questions that really are travel related. I still need information on local attractions, from restaurants to lodging to camping and shopping. Just because you also want to learn about areas to live in should not preclude the discussion. I think TA needs to reevaluate this issue.

I am flying out of PDX in two weeks and was very interested in learning about the park and fly hotels. That's travel related, right? Even though I live here?

Gimme a break.

Relocation isn't a travel issue, because travel is when you live one place, visit another, and then come back home afterward. Relocation changes where your home is - it's different. However, you can still get the questions you need outside of "what neighborhood should I make my home in", you just need to phrase it in a way that a tourist would phrase it. Heck, we ask questions all the time, and we've lived here forever.

TripAdvisor is a travel-related website, and I think it should stay that way - I don't want to see it end up like Yahoo or something where they try to do everything, and most things not very well. There are other Portland forums you can use for topics that are not travel-related like relocation.

You're welcome to use ours - http://p214.ezboard.com/fjswebfrm17

It could use some traffic these days anyway, since EZ Board (our host) was hacked and 90% off all the messages were not able to be recovered. Now it gets lots of hits but nobody posts anything. Used to be active before that. All topics Portland-related are welcome.

Also, OregonLive maintains a Portland forum with considerably more traffic than ours.
