My husband and I are visiting family in Seattle for 2 weeks in August and want to head down to Portland for a few nights. We're thinking of splitting the trip into 2 nights in Portland and 2 nights somewhere near Mt Hood.
When they say "year-round skiing" is that really the case? What will it be like in August?
We're just trying to decide if we want to spend two nights near a ski area at Mt Hood and hopefully do some snowboarding or at least enjoy the snow, or rather spend two nights in Hood River or White Salmon with the assumption that the snow is only on the very top of the mountain and not necessarily worth the drive for skiing but rather enjoy the view of the mountain from a distance.
