Airfare from Portland to Maui

Does anyone know what the average price is for airplane ticket in mid June? They seem really expensive right now and wasnt sure if that is just the way it is. Also what is a good site to buy airline tickets?

Savaan - TripAdvisor has a forum called Air Travel, and some of the posters are extremely knowledgeable because they fly so much. The following is copied from a Nov 2012 post by a long-time airline employee:

"Allegiant does not have any ticketing interline agreements...

and it's this ticketing interline agreement (a legal agreement between two or more airline covering some aspect of their operations) that allows Allegiant to transfer you, your bags and ticket, to another carrier IF they can't carry you for whatever reason..

So, IF, and this is kind of worst-case scenario, Allegiant can't fly that day-- aircraft mechanical issues, etc-- they don't have the ability to send you to another airline like Hawai'ian, United, Delta, Alaska, etc.. as they don't have an interline agreement with these other carriers to do so..

Therefore, you'll ostensibly be stuck there until Allegiant can fly again.

Allegiant *may* enter into interline agreements in the future, a lot of airlines do so as they grow in size, but there's no guarantee that they'll do so, and that they do so with airlines that fly to/from Honolulu.

So, while it's a low-odds, case, do note that traveling WITH Allegiaent does essentially mean you HAVE to travel ON Allegiant and there's presently no other option for them to transfer you to another carrier if it becomes necessary."

Just so you know :-)

If you want to post on that forum, here it is:
