Train from Seattle

We will be visiting Seattle and then going to Portland for a family wedding the end of Sept. I am considering the train since the cost of renting a car with the fee for returning it to another city seems prohibitive. But I have some questins. Are there rental cars available at or, near the train stations? We will need a car in Portland. Also, my husband has some mobilitiy issues. If we take the train will he have to do a lot of walking or are wheelchairs and porters available?

There are a handful of rental car companies within a few blocks of Union Station, although none AT the station. Try Enterprise (445 SW Pine - will pick you up if pre-arranged), Dollar (132 NW Broadway - closest to station) or Hertz (330 SW Pine). Each of these is with 5-6 blocks; if mobility is an issue, taxis are waiting at the station. Don't know about porters or wheelchairs...

Seems like they would have to make accomadations for limited mobility passengers.... looks like the website indicates they have baggage assistance- click on hours and then assistance...

There are porters at the Union Station in Portland. One guy there is more than helpful and if he sees that you need anything, he will be there before you can even ask.
