restaurants and good breakfasts in Portland

We are planning on being in Portland for three days in aug. at the Governor Hotel. It seems there are so many restaurants... We would like to not rent a car until we leave. Do people have recs/favs for seaffod/Italian/chinese/ and breakfasts near Governor? We are looking for good food no high end $$$$$ that we can walk or take free transportation to.

thanks

Thank you for your insights. Unfortunately, we have the kind of social system that more and more people are thrown into homelessness. Perhaps we can find ways that our Canadian neighbors have used to help others less fortunate. Are there any parts of Portland to avoid nights?

It makes me feel ambivalent talking about traveling and eating at the same time having a discussion about the effects of homelessness. Between my wife and myslef we spent over 60 years trying to help others less fortunate than ourselves. It seems as though Portland is more engaged thana lot of other cities in trying to leave less of an impact on our fragile world. Just a quick question. do you have any recommendations for breakfast or lunches. Just something reasonable and tasty?

Hmmm, the US has welfare, food stamps, free homeless shelters, organizations that hand out free clothing and food . . .

As I mentioned before, most of our food carts serve up amazing food and happy hours are a good choice if you are looking for inexpensive.

Limo Peruvian on 23rd Place and Westover just off Burnside has incredible food, a great happy hour and a beautiful patio.

Bluehour also has outdoor seating and a good happy hour.

Saucebox is nearby and they also have happy hour and great food.

I would say that at least 60% of restaurants in town have happy hours!
