Where is my post?

Hello,

I just joined this website and posted an important thread about relocating to Portland. I returned a few hours later to find that it's gone. Is there some kind of magic taking place or did someone delete my post? I'm not too happy about this and would appreciate an explanation.

Don't shoot the messenger, but I suspect the hall monitors nabbed you for posting a thread on relocation rather than travel. I don't see it in the guidelines, but I know similar posts have been deleted in the past.

Hi

I did the same thing once and so have others, TripAdvisor likes to avoid Relocation threads, although you might look in the Off Topics section, maybe they put them there instead of total deletion..not sure about that...

Good luck with your relocation :)

Chrysalis,

it is a Travel website not a Relocation or Moving website and it belongs to TripAdvisor, they can do what they want.

The editors delete or move threads according to their rules...Free Speech is not an issue here.

If you want to complain, you can send this to the editors and see if they can explain things to your satisfaction.

TA prefers no relocation questions. TA has a boilerplate posting for deleting postings - I was surprised it was not used at this time, though it usually follows the OP of follow-on posts. Perhaps, Chrysalis, it was removed in part as your discussion was quite personal and not travel related, per se. I do wish you well in your relocation planning.
