Advice for McMinnville Overnight

Toward the end of our three week trip from SFO to PDX we are planning a stay in the Willamette Valley to enjoy the wine region. We'd like advice as to which town to stay in that is both centrally located to wineries and restaurants. Specifically we're looking for a nice place to stay that isn't too expensive for 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 13).

Also, might our kids find a way to entertain themselves at these wineries while we do our tasting? In the past wineries that we've visited we've found them to have lots of animals on the property to enjoy.

we always stay at the GARH farm, just outside of McMinnville...check out their website. they were farmers, and have a 350 acres of preserves...great hiking and oh, so peaceful...the price is right!~!! and this time we got to meet the family.

at the wineries...have no idea. have someone stay outside with them and cruise the vineyards. play games out there, what ever you do to keep them entertained. most of the winery tasting rooms have picnic benches...food, that always works.
