I have used tripadvisor.com for a few years to help pick hotels. There was a time I googled a town and hotel and viewed what came up. then one day I realized i kept looking at tripadvisor. Now that is where I go first.

It was a real help when we went to New York City, and Mexico

I did not know they had a message forum til last few days.

For a small town, Yacahts has a lot of motel rooms, especially compared to Florence, which has a 7-8 times larger population. A couple of nice places that jump to mind are The Adobe Inn, The Fireside Inn and the Overleaf Lodge. All three sit directly on the ocean bluff < 20' above the ocean. Not sure the current prices/night but should be in the ballpark of what you're looking for. For a bit more rustic setting, The Shamrock located south of the Yachats river may be worth checking out.
