Can anyone give me ideas on best way to spend afternoon outdoors to get flavor of natural environment in or near Oklahoma City
There are so many choices of things to see and do outdoors, please narrow it down and let us know when you are planning to be in the area, what types of things you enjoy doing, and any other information to help us help you.
Agree that the more details, the better we can help. You say outdoors, so I would suggest the Myriad Gardens, H and 8th street festival, and/or the boathouse district. The zoo is also nice.
Visit the town of Lawton. It has many historical venues to include Museums. It is 1 1/2 hour south of Oklahoma City. Lawton is a small town but there is always something going here and you do not have to pay a meter to see them. On the 4th of July all day free events will be going on at Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton.
Some neat local places to try...Pie junkie and Rays Ice Cream in the Plaza district. There's also empire slice house and oak and ore but I have personally tried those. Bleu Garten in Midtown is a fun hangout with different food trucks and there's also Irmas Burgers in Midtown. Automobile Alley is up and coming with new shops and restaraunts. Edmond's downtown area has some good shopping. Download the getlocal app for some ideas that most locals don't even know of. The Crystal Bridge Myriad gardens has a lot of neat renovations and the Ice House is now open. In regards to the Lawton area I would stay away. Crime is high BUT medicine park is beautiful!
