family friendly?

I am trying to plan a trip to the hocking hills area for two young kids (ages 5 and 9) and an active grandma. Can anyone suggest appropriate lodging? Much of the area appears to be for romantic getaways. Nothing to rustic.

Thanks!

there are several neat places i think kids that age would enjoy. what about staying in a cabin? old mans cave chalets have a good variety of cabins. i've really enjoyed staying in their cabins. a chalet suite would be good for you and your boys... you could stay in the bedroom downstairs, they could sleep in the loft upstairs (the A fram chalets are the cheapest). full size cabins are also nice.

If you like a camping type atmosphere that isn't too rustic, try Ravenwood Castle's "Gypsy wagons." they're primative, but have electricity. you'd have to bring your sleeping bags (for air matresses)and walk to the bathroom, but a pretty neat experience. no TVs , but they do have microwaves and fridges. (no open flames allowed in the woods).

here is a complete listing though. everything from cabins to hotels listed here. good luck and let us know how it goes!

In case you're still looking, the Amerihost Inn offers an indoor swimming pool. It's in "Rempels Grove" which also has a miniature golf course, an ice-cream shop, and some deer to feed (or they might be goats :) The kids probably wouldn't be too impressed with the craft/antique mall that's also in the same area.

I had never heard of Majestic Cabins so I looked them up. They are beautiful, but way out of town.
