Strahan Bungalows

Have read some good reviews elsewhere on this site about Strahan Bungalows. On checking their website they appear to have a great deal going till 15 September 2009 - $170 pp for 2 nights accommodation and a Gordon River Cruise in premium seating. Anybody taken advantage of this offer or have any comments, please?

Denise, I did one of these winter specials in Strahan two years ago. This kind of offer is a Tassie winter phenomenon. The Macquarie Harbour cruise is perfectly wonderful regardless of the weather and so you're getting a good price just because people don't want to travel to Strahan in winter.

The bungalows are a little bit away from the docks area, but they're typical Aussie motel units and you'll find them OK. If you want to go upmarket, there are others down on the docks, but you'll pay for the privilege.

And when you get to Sarah Island on the cruise, spare a thought for the poor wretches who lived there.

While you're in Strahan, do the Abt railway trip as well.

Thanks for that, Luigi. As we wanted to spend a couple of nights in Strahan and do the cruise and the railway, it did appear to be a good deal, so will think hard about it. Thanks for all your good advice that I have read elsewhere!
