3 days at Cradle Mountain

Hi All

My parnter and I are travelling Tasmaina late September this year . We have booked to stay at the Cradle Mountain Lodge for 3 nights . We love bushwalking and being active , as well as good food and wine . Just wondering if there are some must do's that people may recommend while we are there ?

thanks in advance

Kim

Hi Kereeka,

If you love walks, you will have lots to choose from. For walks around Cradle Mt and the rest of Tasmania have a look at the link below.

http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/?base=1315

September can be a wet, windy and often snowy time, we find this time of the year we can very heavy dumps of snow.

Don't forget to get you'll need a parks pass for Tas Nat parks, link below for on-line, or you can get a pass at any Visitor Info Centre or Tas Service Shop.

https:/…

If you check the 60 Walks link you'll see other walks within easy reach of Cradle Mt, just in case the weather's being friendly.

Penty of foody places around the north and northwest.

And don't forget to sign in at the sign huts when walking around Tasmania, especially around Cradle Mountain.

Safe travels - Robert

Also check out devils @ cradle if you have time.

We have done the night tour and it's fantastic. The Tasmanian devils are cute! ;-)

Oh BTW do we have to book in September for the summit walk ? Is it even advisable that time of year ?

Thanks in advance

I think Cradle Mountain Chateau offers guided summit walks: puretasmania.com.au/faq/pdfs/experiences_in_…

I'm sure you would need to contact them directly to make a booking and they would only conduct the walk if the weather forecast is favourable. They would therefore reserve the right to cancel the walk with no advance notice.

People (tourists) die doing the trek to the summit alone. That's more likely to happen at this time of year than in summer.
