Wedding venues - civil ceremony only

Hi there

I'm looking for a civil ceremony only venue within the Farnham area, ive spoken to all the local places and some have been really helpful (Farnham house hotel, mercure bush hotel) others extremely unhelpful (northbrook park)

In any case I haven't found the right place in farnham itself yet, can anyone suggest venues within 20 minutes drive that could work for our ceremony only? Thinking of having a marquee reception back in Farnham afterwards you see.

Thanks a lot

Hi, I just wondered whether you found anywhere to have just the ceremony as I am in a similar situation?

Thanks!

Seems an odd request. Why don't you just get married in a Register Office?

Some registry offices have grander facilities than others if you want something better than an 'office' but most other places that are licensed for ceremonies make most of their money from hosting the reception and will not be interested in a ceremony only event.

See …hants.gov.uk/registration/registration-cont… for a list of Hampshire registry offices including pictures of the ceremony rooms

When I had my Civil Partnership, I had a 30-minute ceremony at the Registry Office (which took care of the legals) then everyone came round to ours for a garden party.

Hi - having recently attended a wedding reception at Farnham Castle, I wouldn't recommend it! I think they do civil ceremonies, but on the experience we had, I would avoid it like the plague.

A number of people at the reception were local, and were gushing with praise for the Mercure Bush hotel

Good luck and I hope you find somewhere suitable :)

I have just hosted my daughters wedding at Farnham Castle and it was absolutely amazing.

Would be great but there isn't one! nearest is Aldershot (ugh), Alton or Winchester, all a bit far.

Not sure why #8 has revived this thread. If the OP isn't married by now they've probably changed their mind.
