Visit the ruins of Waverley Abbey.

Farnham is an attractive town in itself.

Jane Austen's house (now a museum) isn't too far away in Chawton.

And if you do visit Farnham then have a look around the castle, walking distance from the town centre

Definately not walking distance, you would need to get a taxi approx 10 mins depending on time of day and traffic

Frensham Pond Hotel really is out in the sticks and nowhere's within reasonable walking distance, except Frensham Ponds! There's walking, horse riding and sailing, but you will need the car to get anywhere else.

Farnham, Midhurst and Petworth are all delightful towns and somewhere to find a change from the hotel restaurant. Guildford and Winchester are the nearest cities if you want to find something open after 10 pm.

Make sure you pack your toothbrush!

If the weather is good, the Devil's Punch Bowl is worth visiting

Frensham and Churt are both pretty villages close by, but best appreciated en route to somewhere of more substantial tourist interest. If you're looking for attractions under cover, Winchester is worth considering and also Portsmouth (about 40 miles on a dual carriageway/divided highway).

Do remember, though, how short the daylight hours are in England in December. It will start getting dark by about 3.30pm.
