Is Svalbard considered part of Norway, and if so is the EHIC valid there?
Yes, Svalbard is considered part of Norway, and the European Health Insurance Card gives you right to health treatment at the same conditions as Norwegians.
Although a part of Norway, many special laws and rules apply in accordance with the Svalbard Treaty. You may read about visa and entry conditions here: emb-norway.or.th/Embassy/…
Thanks for the info, a representative from the University hospital of North Norway, informed me that the EHIC Is not valid in Svalbard, since the latter is not part of Norway. I thought this was strange and wanted to confirm.
