Yes, it is perfectly safe to walk between the villages. It is only a short walk from Koutouloufari to Piskopiano as the two are virtually connected. The walk from Piskopiano to Old Hersonissos is 10 mins or so and well worth it as the latter has a lovely village square lined by a great choice of tavernas (and on Monday evenings there is the "greek night" with traditional music & dancing in the square). Might be worth popping over there in the daytime though to reserve a table for the greek night as it is very popular.

We're also going July and will be their the same time as AuntyDiddy .We will be walking to the local villages as their sounds loads of nice places to eat. I've been told Piskopiono and Koutouourari merge into one and that Old Hersonissis is another 15 minutes safe pleasant walk..Hope this helps

Hi Sidami

All three villages are quite charming so you could try eating out in different places and find a few you like. We had a superb lunch in "To margo" taverna in the square of Old Hersonissos a couple of years ago and will be going back there later this year/.

Both villages have a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, you will have no problems whatever. Other than the cars coming through the narrow streets (which I believe are banned after 15th June) it is absolutely safe. Piskopiano and Koutouloufari run seamlessly together and we walked to Ano Hersonissos and back around midnight, unfortunately the dancing was cancelled that morning but should be on later in the season, I would say that walk would take you nearer 15 minutes as it's almost a mile. We actually ate in To Margo and it was fine, pity about the waiter standing behind us smoking though.

Regarding places to eat, there are so many, all very good, I can definitely recommend The Alchemist and we enjoyed the ambiance of Fabrika in the converted, hundreds of years old olive oil factory, the food was good too (reviews/photos to follow when I have the time).
