Its best to take the buses that ply, though shared cabs are available easily from the taxi stand. These are generally Tata Sumos

Guys,

I will be in India in August 1st week and was thinking of spending 4-5 days in Shillong .. I was just wondering how the weather will be during the those time in the year .. Will it be still monsoon there ? Do u recommend to go there ? Primary reason to go there is to relax and enjoy the natural beauty and the mountains ..

Thanks,

Ranjan

August will be a lovely time to go there. The rains would just about be getting over and the whole place will be lush green and fresh. The cold would definitely not have set in as yet and you will have a blast. Hire a cab for yourself and drive away from the city, visit Cherrapunji. You can stop on the way if you want to enjoy the beauty. The road to Dawki is also awesome from that perspective. Enjoy!
