casino not friendly to ball game patrons

just a heads up to anyone who might be making a day of downtown cleveland and going to the casino after a ball game. despite the fact that there are no water fountains at the casino you cannot bring in water bottles, and they allow no outside food, even if its unopened and in your bag. we had thought we would check out the casino after an indians game, but we still had some snacks in our backpack, and were not allowed in unless we threw everything out. I think that if they are going to do things like that they should at least provide lockers or something to put stuff in. I am a lifelong clevelander and truly think it is a wonderful place to live and play, but am very unhappy with the casino and will save my money for the playhouse and the ballgames and all the other venues that will at least let me bring in my water!

I was just pointing out that if you go to the ballgame and take snacks, as many people do, do not then plan to go to the casino with anything from the ballgame in your bag, be prepared to discard them as they are not allowing them in.

Come on, dawg. Your first post out of the gate and you're calling someone trash.

Thanks, Kim. In Columbus, the casino is not near ANYTHING else, so there is little risk that people might be coming in from a game. I didn't know it was close enough to the stadium that it might pick up foot traffic.

Thanks Stephen. the casino is in a very central location, 5 minute walk from the stadium and quicken loans arena, so its easy to go there after a indians game, cavs game or event at playhouse square, so I would think many people may want to combine it with another event downtown.

I see no problems with this policy. I fInd it hard to believe there are no water fountains in the casino.

unless things have changed, it was reported in the papers that they were not putting water fountains in the casino. Dan Gilbert, one of the owners of the casino and the arena downtown doesnt like them for some reason. the arena was also built without them, but enough people complained that they ended up adding them later.

There have been a number of high-profile cases where millionaires' greed have backlashed on them. When the staium for UCF was built down in Florida, with NO drinking fountains, the student body revolted and forced them to install a system. Harvard Stadium doe snot have fountains. When Dodger Stadium opened, there were no drinking fountains. I even recall reading something years ago about a stadium closing their fountains for fear of spreading some disease (don't recall details). Sounds like the Cleveland Casino just wants to nickle and dime you (and I don't mean slot machines).

I, too disagree with this rule... Worst of all, you can't take a bottle of water OUT of the casino... While it doesn't make much sense, I am sure security has been told to treat everyone equally, whether they just came from the game or not.
