length of stay

We live in Adelaide and are looking to go to the Flinders Ranges with some overseas guests and would like to know what is the average amount of time people spend there. Would 5 nights be too much?

we spent 5 nights in the area and found that just about right.

did a lot of walking (one all day trek into wilpena pound) and a couple of all day circle driving tours.

would go back in a heartbeat.

There are many wonderful things to do and see in the Flinders. Firstly what time of year are you intending to visit?

I would rrecommend a day trip to the top of the gulf with Aaron Morgan

flindersoutbackdaytours.com.au/Port-Augusta-…

from Port Augusta. Aaron also conducts "tast the region" tours which are popular with international travellers.

Where are you staying? If at Rawnsley Park or in the vicinity you could also book their Sunset on Chace tour .. a lovely way to end a day. I would also strongly recommend taking a joy flight, you really get a true appreciation of how amazing Wilpena Pound is when you see it from the air.

Other than that places such as Kanyaka, Sacred Canyon and Parachilna are must -do's (the Prairie Hotel is legendary and well worth a stop for a meal and drinks even if you aren't staying there) There are a number of scenic drives such as Moralana and I would also recommend Blinman, see the mines, perhaps hike to the Blinman Pools)

It's not too hard to spend five days in this region, there's plenty to do and see.
