Bribie island, a family sea change?

Hi,

We are a family of 4 , kids aged 10 & 7yrs, and are considering making a sea change to Bribie after our Brisbane home was flooded in Jan 2011.

We are not sure how we will go selling our house which makes the whole move a little scary, plus ofcouse the fear of a new area, kids schooling, the drive back to Brissie for work etc.

Looking for feedback , the good and bad , from anyone who may have moved there. We would be hopefully looking to build on the canal in Pacific Harbour, but may opt to rent for a while first.

In particular I have questions about aspect for land....normally I would ideally go for a back facing north east....a local agent suggested the wind is bad on the island and north east aspect will catch this??? Was this just spin?? Schools? Looking at Banksia primary and then either Bribie High or Grace Lutheran at Caboolture, any feedback?

Finally is it easy to make friends? Are the locals friendly or does it have the small town clicks?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated

Unfortunately your post won't last long as requests for information about relocations doesn't meet TA guidelines.

Suggest you contact Moreton Bay Regional Council, in particular the local Councillor for that area to give you some first hand knowledge. Check MBRC website for details.

all the very best with your move to Bribie Island
