We're going to the Lakes early september. It's been years since we last went (younger and fitter), we stayed at Elterwater then and loved it.

We would like to do some easy walks accessible from Cartmel where we are staying. Don't mind a drive to get somewhere nice. Any suggestions please!

Hampsfell, the hill east of Cartmel is a pleasant easy walk with fantastic views over Morecambe Bay. Also try Gummer's How at the south end of Windermere. It might also be worth finding out if there is a guided walk across Morecambe Bay when you are there. Tourist Information in Grange -over-Sands should be able to tell you.

Hampsfield Fell would be a great start, a little further is Arnside Knott and Tower with woodland, coastal and mountain views.

If you went up to Windermere there's Sawrey, Far Sawrey and Claife Heights with the option of visiting Hill Top.

Up the coast there is also Black Combe which is well worth a climb! Hope you have a brilliant time.
