Getting my Workouts in...Sian Kaan

Hey,

We are heading to Sian Ka'an over the Christmas Holidays and we are gym rats... I know that there isn't a gym on Sian Ka'an premises but it says you can use it in the Bahia main complex.

Is there one gym shared by all 4 resorts? If so, where is it?

or

Is there a gym on each of the other 3? (Tulum, Akumal, Coba)

I also read you can get access to the The TAO Gym? How does this work .. is it free?

Has anyone used the TAO and the Resorts Gym, how do they compare?

Thanks!

k

Tulum and Coba have their own gyms that Sian Ka'an guests can use. I'm not sure if Akumal has one.

Yes, Sian Ka'an guests can also use the TAO Wellness Center for free, including their workout area and programs.

Here are a couple of pictures of the workout area:

If you're into Pilates or Yoga you might be interested in their morning programs at 8 and 9AM. You can ask about them there.

I've only used the TAO gym, so sorry, I can't compare them for you.

I usually use the Tulum gym, which they re-modeled and is fine for a vacation workout. There was a recent thread from another guest who had similar workout patterns as I (Powerhouse, etc.) who used the Coba gym and said it was also nice.

But for what you appear to be looking for, I think Rob is correct that the TAO may be best.

I don't do Pilates or Yoga, and am not into Classes.

I circuit train so I need a little space, a mat, free weights and weight machines if possible. Do they have this at the gym in Tulum?

I can make due with what I see from the images at the TAO center if not.

Thanks for the help!

Cheers

The Tulum has free weights: dumb bells to around 50# and plates to 45#. They have a Smith machine, a leg press, a varied-station pulley machine, some singular apparatus (sit up, pull up, etc.), and treadmills/cardio machines. The gym isn't huge and can get crowded quickly, especially early, but I did crunchs on a ball and moved a bench chair around to do shoulders, so you should be able to find space to drop a mat.

Ok. Cool. Sounds standard to most Resorts Gyms I've been to then. I will make it work. :)

Thanks again for the info.
