Akumal, coba or tulum?

Hi,

We are travelling to gran bahia principe feb 08, we are from uk and are travelling with mytravel airways (prev. airtours).

Brochure we booked from does not mention which resort they will place us at and when we emailed hotel they advised works on 1st come 1st served basis. We are staying in a standard room and wondered if anyone knows how allocation works??

Would have liked to have been in Akumal but have read this is only junior suites, does anybody know if this is definately the case??

Thanks

Akumal does have some standard rooms, however most of the standard rooms are in Tulum. They may upgrade you to a jr. suite in Coba if Coba is having trouble filling up. Your best bet is to wait until exactly two weeks out and then email the resort, give them the details of your booking, and ask for a standard room in Akumal, stating that you prefer to stay in the Akumal section. Other than that, there's not a lot you can do.

Good luck!

When you book throught the tour company like the one you booked through, you get what is called "run of the house" rooms. Just a fancey word for what ever they have available at the time. As Sandinmypants mentions, you can e-mail the resort a couple of weeks in advance, but when you don't book a specific hotel on the resort, there is not much you can do. The only way to make sure is to upgrade to a Golden/Diamond/Platinum package.
