Big fuzzy spiders at ABR.

We stayed at ABR Feb11. Just to let anyone who are staying there

to be cautious of Turantulas. We saw two in our hallway in Blg 7 and we met an American couple who caught a fairly large one in their room in BLG 2 or 3 ( The bldg closest beach ) not sure if they are Poisonous but they didn`t look very cuddly.

How was your room beside the unexpected guests? What floor were you on?

You are in the tropics and the jungle, so you will come across various forms of bugs, spiders, animals...we always stay on the third floor of the Bahia Principe to avoid that type of thing. If you are on the ground floor, just shove a towel underneath your front door at night to prevent anything from coming in.

KatiemayGreenbay, We were BLDG 7 rooms 747/748. 3rd Flr

The rooms were dated and a liitle run down but everything worked and housekeeping did a nice job.

It is about a 5 min walk from the lobby and buffet area. The view was fabulous and it was very quiet. Some bugs, but with the exeption of the 2 Turantulas and many Geco`s the bugs were all dead. The hotel must spray.

Tarantulas are not really poisonous. That is, they are not poisonous if they bite you. Their hairs may cause a rash if they get on you.

Tarantulas are not uncommon in the entire Riviera Maya area.
