Hi AeonToronto,

Welcome to the MUSKOKA TRAVEL FORUM.

You say...

<< checked everywhere on he net !!! >>

Rather than us hash thru old ground you've already covered, give us an idea of where you have looked so far... so we can brainstorm some NEW ideas for you.

Cheers!

With the Canadian dollar soaring and the US economy still grinding, lodge owners are struggling to get people into their cabins and this summer will probably be the same. There are numerous lodges with housekeeping cabins all over central and northern Ontario, and getting a weekend should be fairly easy again this year. Also, cottage owners ideally would like to sell weeks, and will advertise that way however make the call - you never know who might say yes.

We have contacted probably about 50+ places and noneone wants to rent for just one or 2 days.

googled cottage rentals ontario...and went to pretty much all those sites and also checked through trip advisor in ontario for vacation rentals....nothing!

We pretty much will take anything at this point, as long as its not too far away., so probably no further than 2.5 hours out of toronto in any direction...just lakefront if possible, 2 bedroom and kitchen, bbq etc.... any and all help greatly appreciated!

I think what Oncearound was suggesting wasn't a cottage rental or a vacation rental, but renting a cabin at a lodge or resort. You would probably find these listed with regular hotels and motels.

Cottage owners want to rent by the week. It's too early to rent a cottage for a weekend in July, which is prime season in a very short season. It is only April and if they give you a weekend, they may miss on a week rental.

If you want a weekend, you will have to do this last minute as any owner will only rent for the weekend if there is no one taking it for a week. They will not know this until last minute.

Correct krp329. As for actual cottage rentals, it's definitely too early to secure a mid summer weekend only spot. That will be a last minute deal for sure, so calling about a week or two out is where you'll find one if they're available.

we've been renting for years, july and august are the busy months....most cottage rental sites are by the week only.....some offer 3 day weekends, but normally on the "off" season.....not sure if this one will rent for only 2 nights, but try

www.craigleithcottage.com

we've rented it for 2 nights in the past but in the off season
