Most vehicle - moose collisions are caused by locals not visitors. You wonder why??

Ditto.

@Gutch2:

Wether moose are dangerous to humans or humans are dangerous to moose is a philosophical question which everybody has to answer for themselves. But your chance of hitting a moose is a lot greater at 5 to 10 km/h above the speed limit than 5 to 10 km/h below the speed limit.

Atcanad, there is no doubt about you comment being true. I wouldn't even try to dispute it.

That having been said there were would be 0% chance of hitting a moose with a vehicle if we were to eliminate them from the island where they are an INVASIVE SPECIES! They don't belong here! Perhaps the next species the provincial government should import are skunks and rattlesnakes or boa constrictors? Or perhaps put pirahna into the ponds? Governments in some jurisdictions work on eliminating INVASIVE SPECIES, not introducing them.

Then again, people are an invasive species, aren't we?

Driving from Deer Lake to the Green Bay area today we played chicken with a caribou and then a mother moose with her twins. Lots of wildlife around.
