things to do

We are spending a week near Nanoose bay in August an I'm looking for reccomendations for the top things to do. We are a family of 6 with 4 older teens. Any suggestions of things to definitely do while we are there?

Thanks!

A couple of things you could do is visit Cathedral Grove, Englishman River Falls and Coombs Country Market. There will be SUP and canoeing opportunities as well. Wildlife Elements Park has ziplining.

You could drive the short distance down to Nanaimo for a meal on the Dinghy Dock Floating Pub in the harbour.

Visit the Sandcastles in Parksville, stroll around the town / beach https://www.parksvillebeachfest.ca/

Visit Coombs and the Coombs Country Market (goats on roof) and all shops, a little further past is Cathedral Grove home of the giant trees. Along the way to the Grove, take a dip in Cameron Lake. Have a hike around Englishman River Falls Provincial Park or Little Qualicum Provincial Park. Spend some quality family time on the beach! Rathtrevor, Parksville and Qualicum Beach have expansive sandy beaches.

Head to the Go Cart Track http://www.fasttimegrandprix.ca/

Mini golf in Parksville, 2 parks. http://paradisefunpark.net/ https://www.riptidelagoon.com/

Visit Horne Lake Caves for some great adventures, pack a picnic and have lunch alongside Horne Lake, go for a swim. https://hornelake.com/

Drive south to WildPlay Elements Park (south Nanaimo) for lots of fun for the whole family, even Mom and Dad. https://wildplay.com/nanaimo/

The Dinghy Dock Pub is actually on Protection Island opposite Nanaimo harbour.

It can be an entertaining place, both by paid and reveling performers. There is a network of trails on the island as well.

It is accessible only by ferry at 10 bucks each return

There is also a “whale watching” business in Nanaimo.

Otherwise, mitca has you well covered.
