Please read reviews as all on this forum have been to Club Hotel Dolphin, as you will see most have enjoyed their stay, the ones that didn't although comments are not to be dismissed the greater majority from UK who were disatisied because they booked the wrong holiday and were comparing CHD to UK business hotels or expected Sri Lanka to be Benadorme or Tenarife. We are going for a fourth time in 4 weeks, the staff are great (one or two exeptions mainly reception staff could be better) but averybody is friendly and helpfull. It is true that whilst the main body of the hotel has been refurbished and the beach villas/bungalows the guest rooms in the hotel are a little tired and are perhaps next on the list to be done. The hotel is in a village so you will need a tuk tuk to town but cheap enough, do get out & about if your going to hang around pool all holiday you could be anywhere so book somewhere nearer and cheaper so get out and abour and discover Sri lanka. The hotel is about 20-30 mins from airport, other great places to stay are further south and require 3-4 hours travelling after landing so consider you will have been flying at least 11 hrs plus airport wait and airport travel so do you want to extend this allready long time, Negumbo nearer airport by 10-15 mins but hotel reviews are not so good also Club Palm Bay @Marawila about 20 mins up the road gets good write ups so a possibility if you want short transfer time. Food at Dolphin is varied and plentifull both Europian food and local spicy food. If you are to book perhaps choose vila and shop around in UK for best price the best well known companys are not allways the cheapest, we booked through Away Holidays a part of Southall travel this time because most helpfull and least expensive, we also chose direct flight with Sri Lankan Airlines because quicker and better flight times but it is your money your choice but smaller companies cheaper but make sure they are bonded, for extra security pay by credit card as you have protection by your credit card company although surcharge of 2%. Wherever you choose enjoy.
