Waynesville to Biltmore - How far?

We are visiting the Biltmore in September, but were thinking of staying in Waynesville. Is it a long drive? Any suggestions on lodging? Inns, B&B's that are moderately priced? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The trip from Waynesville to The Biltmore house is 30 minutes, more if traffic is uncooperative. Sorry, I don't have any experience with lodging in Waynesville.

Have a great trip!

Give some consideration to the Pisgah Inn which is on the Blue Ridge Parkway. but is in the middle of nowhere! Nothing but views and zero devlopment. Just one restaurant and lots of hiking. But zero commercialism.

There are 2-3 decent commercial hotels in Waynesville. Nicer ones in Asheville but Waynesville is more of a quaint mountain town with all the shops and restaurants.

For a special treat, look into The Swag, an inn just outside of Waynesville. Pricey but a good value.

BradMac (also known as lead foot!) I think Wayneville to Biltmore in 30 minutes is pretty ambitious. I think planning on at least 40 minutes is more realistic. Maybe I just always get stuck in I-40 traffic accidents and slow-downs. It is definitely a doable drive. I really like Waynesville and there are a couple of B&B's that are right downtown. Are you considering other areas? Black Mountain? Weaverville? Hendersonville? There are so many B&B's in this area....

Thanks for the suggestions. We are considering anywhere that is under 1 hour away. I heard that Waynesville was a quaint town, but we are definitely open to other areas. We could also use help with moderately priced hotels and motels. We are still deciding on how much we want to spend on a room that we will only be in to sleep. We'd rather spend our money on fun stuff.

That should be a good time of year, after the summer rush and before the fall colors.

You may want to look at some of the hotels that are between Asheville and Black Mountain on Hwy 70 (that turns into Tunnel Road and leads into Asheville). The small town of Black Mtn is very quaint. You could be in Black Mountain in about 10 minutes and Asheville in about the same.

LOL Weaverville! I know we've had this conversation before. I went to the Biltmore on Father's Day. I got on I-40 at the 276 ramp. It took APPROX 35 minutes from there, following the average traffic speed. The OP should take your advice instead of mine since you are a destination expert and I'm not.

I should probably start all of my suggestions with "I'm not a local, but.."

Have a great trip, lambyk!
