Camp Lejeune Fireworks

We will be at North Topsail (New River Inlet Rd) for July 4th, and wondered if we will be able to see the Camp Lejeune fireworks from our house. We have never been to Topsail for the 4th before, and don't have any idea where WPT Hill Field is, which is reportedly where they set off the fireworks at Camp Lejeune. Thanks for any info you can provide!

WPT Hill Field is right in the middle of the main base complex. I doubt you would be able to see them.

There is a map here: www.mccslejeune.com/PDFs/Map_Nov_07.pdf

The field is to the lower left of the traffic circle.

You can't see the fireworks from Camp Lejeune but, depending on where your house is, you can see them in the distance from Holly Ridge.

If you want to go see fireworks I would suggest either the ones in Surf City or Holly Ridge - or both!

Surf City holds its fireworks display on July 3 at the Soundside Park and Holly Ridge has its show on July 4 at its municipal park. Both have food, music and sometimes entertainment so it's good to show up an hour or so before sunset to get a good spot and join in on the fun.

Holly Ridge has a lot of parking at its park but in Surf City I would suggest parking a block or two away and then walking to the park so that you can miss getting stuck in slow moving traffic.

In addition to the fireworks on base, Surf City and Holly Ridge, there are also some fairly close ones on the 4th of July at Onslow Pines Park and at the battleship in Wilmington.

Or if you just want to stay at your beach house and relax but still watch a few fireworks, don't worry, there are generally plenty of people setting them off illegally up and down the beach. It's not organized of course but you can usually see some nice ones.
