Or you can just stay at home or walk down to the beach. There will be plenty of fireworks going off all over the place that are fun to watch.

Thanks, I love the fourth on Topsail. Of course you should let people know, with the holiday and all, there may be a little more traffic than ususal. I'd hate to see anyone upset because of heavy traffic.

Wish we could be there for the fourth!

We have trveled on the fourth before and have seen random fireworks along the way. It is a nice surprisr, drivind down the road and seeing fireworks in the sky. A nice little bonus is seeing the young kids with their little sparkelers out in the lawns, parks and picnics.

Happy Independence Day!

Not all fireworks are illegal on Topsail Island or in NC. You can legally purchase and light off fireworks that don't bang or leave the ground. They are the ones you will see in grocery stores and such; they usually say something about emitting showers of sparks.

I forgot to add that, like everywhere else, the traffic after the fireworks in the Topsail area will be quite backed up. I've found it's better just to hang out for a little bit or watch the fireworks from an area a little further away to avoid the traffic. Or you can just get in your vehicle, sit in traffic, talk about which fireworks you liked best and make your plans for the next day. Just take it all in stride, remember - you're on island time. :)

Also, Surf City has places to park and shuttle service to the Soundside Park. This is probably your best bet if you are planning to watch the Surf City fireworks. Check out the town's website at http://surfcity.govoffice.com/ to find the parking area most convenient to you.

If traffic back ups bother you, I guess I would probably suggest avoiding going to the battleship in Wilmington. It is an incredibly awesome display but I've found you need to give yourself at least two hours after the fireworks are over there to get back to the Topsail area.
