Punta Raisi to Trapani

We will be arriving late morning at the Palermo airport from Rome on a Friday for a 5-day Sicilian visit. Is there a convienent bus from the airport in Punta Raisi to Trapani? Having flown all night from the US, we aren't looking forward to an extended wait for a bus but I'd rather prefer not to do any driving.

We will be spending the first 2 days in Trapani and visiting Erice. Then we would hire a car in Trapani to drive the coast down to Marsala and Sciacca (my wife’s grandfather’s birthplace) among other day trips. This would minimize the need for a car to just 3 days instead of 5.

Can anyone suggest a website for the Punta Raisi-Trapani bus? Finally, exactly how do you pronounce "Trapani"?

Yes, Interbus runs direct bus service from Palermo’s airport to Trapani – Enter “Aeroporto Palermo” and “Trapani”

http://www.interbus.it/

You haven’t indicated when you plan to arrive, but if I recall from previous posts, it’s May – Schedules will update in spring prior to your arrival, but on the current schedule, buses depart the airport at 12.30 and 18.30, but there is much more frequent service in season. There were four or five runs last season.

Thanks Vagabonda. You are correct that we will be traveling in early May. If our plane is on time AND luggage is prompt, we could make the 12:30 PM bus and the Spring schedule should allow for any unexpected delays. Either way, we will be happy just be on the ground. The details seem to take care of themselves - like where to have lunch!

One more question: We will be renting a car once we get to Trapani for three daytrips. Does anyone recommend a particular company (or companies that we should definitely avoid)? We will staying in the "Old Town" section of town.

Hi everyone.

We ll be arriving in Palermo Airport on March 1st at 7.30p.m.

I have been looking around the internet for buses or trains to directly go to Trapani from the airport at that time but could not find anything.

Trains seem to be stopping at 7pm

Interbus at 7.30pm.

Do you know if there is any other way for us to get to Trapani ou Alcamo? (we cannot afford to rent a car or take the taxi)

Thanks in advance for your advices!

Welcome to Sicily cedric_brg!

Unfortunately you’ll arrive even too late for the direct Interbus service between Palermo and Trapani – The last bus departs Palermo at 20.00.

But Terravision runs direct late bus service from Palermo to Trapani Birgi. It certainly is the long way to take the Prestia e Comandè bus from Palermo’s airport to Palermo, then take the Terravision service from Palermo to Birgi, and then take AST from Birgi to Trapani, and in the end the cost of three transports, not to mention the inconvenience and time may not be worth it. Perhaps spend the night in Palermo and travel onward the following morning.
