Finally!

Think we have decided on following route thank to everyone for their help, i have looked at openseas ferry website to check the schedules from 2010 and if they run to plan in 2011 i should be able to do the following (fingers crossed):

2/9 Fly into athens stay overnight

3/9 Fly to Milos next morning stay 4 nights

7/9 Ferry to Sifnos stay 3 nights

10/9 Ferry to Folgandros stay 4 nights

14/9 Ferry to Mykonos stay 4 nights

18/9 fly to UK from Mykonos

Its a bit different route wise to enable us to fly in/out of the islands then get the shortest ferry time between each island.

Couple of questions:

1) i am going to book flights in/out but should we book ferry tickets?

2) I intend to book accomodation and ask owners if they could be flexible with the ferry schedules!!!

3) am i mad with the above or any other thoughts?

Thanks

Your plan sounds fine. The only caveat is that you may end up in the same situation as most first-time visitors of Milos:

"Had I known, I'd have planned to stay in Milos far longer".

:)

In September, there are generally plenty of ferry seats available, but you should book them a few days in advance whenever you can. In Milos, in general, hotel owners are flexible with arrival/departure dates outside the busy tourist season (July/August) but the first week of September may still be a busy time for some hotels. All you have to do is ask them.

If a swimming pool is a requirement, this will narrow down your lodging choices substantially, as few establishments in Milos have a pool. See, to really enjoy Milos, you ought to be out visiting one or more different beaches every day, or engaging in activities such as going on a daily sailboat excursion, sea kayaking, etc. Few Milos visitors spend their day by the pool.

Having said that, properties in Milos that feature pools are:

Achivadolimni Camping & Bungalows

Liogerma

Lagada Beach

Moschoula

Orizontes

Santa Maria

Villa-Mina

The above list is from memory. I might be forgetting one or two.
