O! Hamos! Tavern

Hi

I will be staying in Adamas (Milos) and would love to venture to O! Hamos! Tavern ( absolutely love the name ...) and have read the tavern is amazing!!

I will not have a car .. can you please tell me if I can catch transport there or do I need to organise a taxi.

I have read that it is outside of the port.

Thanks!!

From the port to O Hamos is only about 1.5km, 15 mins walk.

The name means “chaos”, I hope that doesn’t describe the service :)

You really can walk. It’s a flat easy stroll along the water.

And absolutely worth it. Possibly the best food we’ve ever had in Greece!

Yup, just walk along the water about a mile and a half and it will be across from the little organized beach on the main road.

We had a look at this place on our last visit to Milos and we were not impressed. It do not think it has a beachfront location.

It is right across the road from the beach.

They also have a number of serviced sunbeds and facilities on the beach including a small bar.

Its a wonderful family traditional taverna with a complete paddock to plate ethos. The menu was one of the most authentic and extensive we have ever seen. My Greek husband was in raptors over dishes he had not had since his childhood. Very well priced too.

What is it you didnt like NomadicTraveller7 ?

I think it was a late rather cool September day and we wanted somewhere in the sun and with a waterfront location to look at the views over the bay. We may still have been tempted to eat there if we had seen things that enthused us. Perhaps, as well it was that we had come from 2 weeks in Sifnos where the food is so good.

Ha @nomadic we had also come from Sifnos and the food was good but John declared O'Hamos the best he's had anywhere!

Simple dishes like fennel and baked eggs, pork in molasses in paper ( the other Kleftiko). I've got photos of the menu - 8 pages long and written in 6 languages by hand. They queue down the street for good reason.

I really should do a review one day :-/
