local transport in raleigh

We will be in Raleigh for just one night in May 2014, staying probably in Arrow Drive / Summit Park Lane area, just off the Glenwood Ave / Cliff Benson Beltline intersection. ( These names don't mean a lot, we're from the UK.) Is there any public transport from this area into Raleigh centre, national museums etc ? Any info much appreciated......Al

That area is not directly served by public transport, but it is very close to Crabtree Valley mall, arguablly walkable to it. Crabtree has buses that serve the area. Buses here are NOT like in UK, so do not run as often or to as many places. HEre is the bus info. raleighnc.gov/services/…CATBusRoutes.html

The map indicates that several routes run out of Crabtree.

Most of the museums are downtown. Here is basic info on downtown. Once you get downtown, you there is the rline to get you around. http://www.godowntownraleigh.com Lots of museums, restaurants, etc. there.

There is also the NC Museum of Art which is nationally recognized. http://www.ncartmuseum.org While it may be on a busline, a cab would likely be your best best. Although it is on the Greenway! And not far from where you are staying...kinda...if you are into walking.

This is pretty basic info. Let us know what specifics you need.

Thank you so much for your very useful reply re transport in Raleigh. I am working through your information. The Crabtree Mall seems to be the transport hub and most other things as well. On the Bus map, no. 6 route that picks up at the mall, there is a reference to 'Park and Ride'. Is this a convenient way to get downtown ? I would prefer to leave the car at the nearby hotel, a short walk to the Mall, and perhaps use this service...?
